VP + CISO | Top Multinational Toy Manufacturer

Challenge

Reporting  directly to the CTO, this position was pivotal to maintaining the reputation  and success of this world-leading toy manufacturer as the industry shifted  further towards the incorporation of digital into its product offering.  Guaranteeing the safety and integrity of the company’s products was a concern  to all within the business as well as to customers worldwide. In addition to providing  thought leadership on innovative security concepts relating to connected  devices and the cloud, this candidate would be responsible for all  traditional corporate security, compliance, privacy and data protection across  the business.

Solution

As a boutique technology, engineering and product development search firm, we have an established information, cyber and product security practice running an average 10 or more S/VP level CISO searches annually. We knew immediately to focus on companies that manufacture consumer facing products, that create and manage digital and connected experiences directly with consumers. These products are deployed in-home on private networks and, therefore, privacy is critical. Having run numerous CISO searches across Consumer Goods, Pharmaceuticals, Retail and Manufacturing, we were able to leverage networks from both Europe and theAmericas.

Result

The final shortlist was made up of senior cybersecurity executives from the likes of Google, Visa,Comcast and Cisco. The candidate who ultimately joined the business went in with a wealth of experience in product security, securing over 100 IoT products such as Apple Pay and connected car. He also had a breadth of industry knowledge, having led information security within verticals such as banking, consumer services and healthcare. With his influence, the business was able to retain its spot as number one in its category with an ethical commitment to security.

CISO + Deputy CISO | Fortune 500 Pharmaceutical Giant

Challenge

Under the direction of a new and progressive CEO, technology was identified as one of the strategic pillars necessary to change the company to be nimble, progressive and best in class. Under previous leadership, an extensive outsourcing strategy had reduced our partner’s depth of technology talent and expertise. A new Group CIO was hired to radically change IT and bring capability back in house. The challenge presented to us was to secure a world class cyber and security professional to build a proactive and engaged cyber function, transforming the existing function that was largely focused on compliance.

The successful candidate was hired from a global manufacturing business in California and relocated to our partner’s head office in the UK. Within five years, the successful candidate developed a world class cyber function and progressed to deputy CIO with an increased remit owning all infrastructure, operations and cloud transformation. We have since conducted a subsequent search exercise and successfully recruited a Deputy CISO to support the enlarged mandate and and provide succession potential.
